Albert Lee Robinson of Stamford has pleaded guilty in federal court in Bridgeport to one count of possession with intent to distribute controlled substances after being busted with heroin, crack cocaine, powdered cocaine and marijuana.
In January 2004, Robinson was sentenced to 188 months in prison, followed by five years of supervised release, for distributing crack cocaine. U.S. Attorney John Durham said that Robinson was sentenced as a career offender based on prior convictions for burglary, drug and robbery offenses. Robinson was released from prison in August 2017 and began serving his five-year term of supervised release.
On Aug. 14 this year, Robinson was arrested by police in Stamford when he was found in possession of 17 grams of heroin, 19 grams of crack cocaine, 14 grams of powdered cocaine and marijuana, all of which was packaged to distribute, Durham said. Investigators also seized a digital scale and $2,052 in cash.
Durham said that on Sept. 6, members of the DEA’s Bridgeport High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force and Stamford Police Department executed a federal arrest warrant for Robinson. At this time of his arrest, Robinson possessed a bag of powder cocaine on his person.
Robinson has been detained since his arrest. He is scheduled to be sentenced on March 12 next year, when he will face a maximum term of 20 years in prison for distributing a controlled substance and extra time for violating the conditions of his supervised release.
